Ingredient Substitutions for Recipes

It never fails that I will forget something from the grocery store or just think I already have it on hand and when I get home I don't.  Here are some substitutes for ingredients that I have used and had good results with.

Self-rising flour--------1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1 tsp baking powder.
Baking powder---------1/4 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar.
Buttermilk/sour milk --1 Tbsp white distilled vinegar plus enough milk to make 1 cup.
Fresh Herbs-------------1 tsp dried herbs.
Heavy cream (not for whipping)----3/4 cup milk, 3 Tbsp, 1/3 cup melted butter.
