Monday Harvest!

My little gardens are finally starting to do something.  I have been trying to keep track of my harvest in a notebook and I have been wanting to post on here but just keeping up with weighing and writing it down in a notebook has been hard to keep up. My Sungold tomatoes don't usually make it in the house because gardening makes me hungry and Sungolds are like potato chips you can't eat just one. I haven't been keeping track of my herbs because I am usually cooking when I harvest my herbs and seeing my husband and kids and dogs look at me like I'm crazy when I make a mad dash to the garden barefoot with scissors in hand and running back into the house herbs in my pockets and try to write the weight down in my notebook and then get them washed and then chop them up to put them in the pot. I think my family already worries about me and my mental health....you know when you walk into a room and everyone gets quite and just stares at you...well my family is doing that to me  (I could just be a paranoid gardener) It's hard to explain things like why I have Christmas ornaments hanging from my tomato plants and milk jugs buried in the ground, and why I keep blending up some plants in my kitchen blender so I can pour them onto other plants and why I need a dust buster in my garden.  I could go on but I am getting a little worried about myself now.

Well back on the subject of my harvest, here are a few things from this weekends harvest and just some pictures of what the garden looks like now.
My husband already has plans for the jalapenos stuff them with cream cheese and wrap them with bacon Mmmmm!!

This is my little garden bed with my sweet potatoes, cucumbers and banana peppers.

My other little garden with peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, squash, and I just planted some fall potatoes.

I kept trying to pulling out this cardinals nest when she was trying to build but she would not get the hint so I just gave up and let her have the tomato plant she can't fly very good because of a damaged wing but she just stays around our house year after year.

Black cherry these don't get added to my harvest tally to much either between me and my dog we love to munch on these in the garden.

This is old timey cornfield pumpkin. This winter squash is supposed to make great pumpkin pies hopefully I will find out.

I am going to try to keep up on documenting my harvest tally, I have been reading a great blog called Daphne's Dandelions and she does a Monday Harvest so I will be trying to do that linky thing if I can figure that out. I will be putting together my total on my blog today or tomorrow.

Have a good one!

  1. A lovely harvest from a lovely garden! I have tomato envy, as mine are still just little green things, except for my Minigold. I am so anxious for Black Cherry and Sungold to ripen!

  4. Annie, Thank you I don't know how long my tomato harvest will last it seems our heat has put stop to my tomatoes flowering. I figure if we get a little cooler weather I will try some bloom booster.

Allison, Thank you, I love black cherry they are so good and produce like crazy until frost.

  5. Recently I've been picking a lot of snow peas that don't make it into the house to get weighed either. And raspberries, but sadly the blue jays have found the raspberries and are eating them all. This is the first time in 19 years, but since I'm not home they don't get chased away at all.

  6. Daphne, I love raspberries I don't think they would make into the house but it would be because of me and not the birds....but I would tell my the kids the birds ate them...ha ha ha

  7. Tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers - you have everything that I don't! Well, that's not too hard, as I'm still very new at this and my harvests are coming along very slowly. It's nice to see others' harvests for inspiration, though. The color on your black cherry tomatoes is really pretty.
