Harvest Monday 07-26-2010

Here are a couple of pictures of this weeks harvest. If you want to see some more yummy harvest head on over to  Daphne's Dandelions.

 Other things going on:
I lost 3 tomato plants to downy mildew and I'm going to pull up 4 of my pepper plants this morning because of EB and I'm tired of fighting it. I'm starting some more cucumbers from seed.

I have some kind of caterpillar (I haven't seen any bugs on this plant) that is like making my leaves on my tomato plant look like a cocoon and when I pull the leaves open it just has what I think is frass in it.  Here are some picture.  I'm not sure what this is but it is driving me crazy and I am going to try to find out what this is and if anyone knows please let me know.

I hope everyone has a great week.
Jeana

  2. EG, Thanks. Peppers are about the only thing that hasn't stalled out because of the heat.

BTW Good luck on your exam. My son is going to Vo-tech for HVAC.

  4. Your harvest looks so good with all those different kinds of tomatoes, peppers, and oh, you have melons, too! I have a supermarket cantaloupe experiment going on right now, and I would be so happy if I got even one melon out of it. I don't know about your caterpillar, but hopefully someone can help you ID it.

  6. Thyme2garden, You will have to tell me how your experiment goes, I got seeds from seeds my grandpa saved he is 91yrs old and still gardens and takes care of a small farm.

Meemsnyc, I'm still trying to find out what has caused this damage but it seems to have slowed down alot.

  8. Thanks Daphne I'm still looking online to find out what it is. The worm looked like a small cut worm but I didn't see it but a couple of times and when I finally got my camera back from my son I couldn't find the caterpillar anywhere.

  9. Don't know what the worm is but I'm curious to find out. Is it causing much problem? And are those melons? Wow. Nice harvest.

That's really cool that your grandpa still gardens and saves seeds for you!

  13. Thanks. The peppers are blushing beauties they do have a blush of red to them but I have been picking them a little early, they get more peppers than leaves.
